    Being the girl in whose dreams Gensokyo is formed and manipulated, and me for that matter, Maribel's Special stats are simply outstanding, including 254 base Special Defense. However, she has a bad movepool and a weak 60/60 physical defense.

    Maribel is a great wall with maximum physically defensive investment and her Special Defense already being awesome. The Psychic STAB attack is your choice: use Psychic if you prefer a bit more power and Special Defense lowering over lowering all the foe's stats, or Psyshock if you want to target enemy Defense. Toxic is additional damage dealing for Maribel, and her only option for Darks. With Reflect, she improves her walling capabilities even further. And lastly, Protect offers free healing and Toxic stalling.

    An offensive set for Maribel instead of stalling. Nasty Plot raises her Special Attack to an outstanding 1105 with a Life Orb, which means not much can wall her. With a Psychic move, Shadow Ball and Hidden Power Fighting you can hit anything neutrally or super effectively. 220 Speed EVs ensure you outspeed a maximum Speed Sakuya.

    Other Options
    Dream Induction, Calm Mind

    Dream Induction can put the foe the sleep, granting you either free boosts or stalling options, but it will have to replace one of Maribel's important moves.

    Calm Mind is an option over Nasty Plot to also boost Maribel's already amazing Special walling.

    Checks and Counters
    Serpent of Chaos is Maribel's biggest counter, because it is not weak to Hidden Power Fighting like other Dark types, and has Crunch to hurt Maribel. Hibachi resists a lot of what Maribel can use, is immune to Toxic and can hit hard with X-Scissor or U-Turn. Other Bug types work as well, but tentaquil is weak to Shadow Ball, so watch out when Shell Smashing on Maribel. Reimu is immune to Shadow Ball thanks to her Normal typing and can wall Maribel easily, but has difficulties in damaging her. tentaquil can Shell Smash on Maribel and hit her hard with Bug STAB afterward, but is weak to Shadow Ball.
