Bowser
Type:
HP: 100
Atk: 140
Def: 150
SAtk: 80
SDef: 65
Spd: 65
Ability: Shell Armor / Sturdy
Tier: Fundex OU
Bowser possesses awesome Physical stats, them being 140 and 150, together with a good movepool to use the stats with. Dragon Dance makes his low Speed ignorable. However, Bowser still has low Special Defense. After a Dragon Dance boost, one can get around this, though. Especially when Bowser OHKOs most special attackers. His Outrages and Flare Blitzes have been proven tough to wall.
"Great Demon King Koopa"
Bowser (M) @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) / Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage / Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz / Fire Punch
- Earthquake / Wild Charge / ThunderPunch
The default set for Bowser. Dragon Dance, even though his Speed seems very low, makes it a dangerous sweeper that has meant the end of many teams, especially when aided by Satan's Drought. Dragon Claw is always an option over the powerful Outrage, because Outrage locks you and confuses Bowser after two or three consecutive uses. Fire Punch avoids the recoil damage of the otherwise better Flare Blitz. The last move choice is pretty much individual preference for each team: it depends on what you have to counter.
"Capturing Peach"
Bowser (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) / Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Whirling Fortress / Earthquake / ThunderPunch
Instead of getting faster and sweeping, this Bowser set aims for tanking, while also being a utility (Whirling Fortress works like Rapid Spin). Bulk Up makes it deal more damage and take less damage, while the maximized Special Defense using EVs make sure he can take the most Special hits possible.
Other Options
Close Combat, Payback, Stone Edge, Head Smash, Rock Polish, Swords Dance, Will-o-Wisp
Close Combat, Payback, Stone Edge and Head Smash are some other Physical moves Bowser gets and they're not bad.
Rock Polish and Swords Dance are boosting moves besides Dragon Dance that make Bowser a powerful sweeper.
Will-o-Wisp turns Bowser into an even more wally Physical wall.
Checks and Counters
Yuugi and Giant Enemy Crab are the safest to switch into Bowser, as they aren't weak to his moves, have strong Physical defense and have STAB Earthquakes (or Massive Damage in GEC's case) to hurt Bowser with. Lolwut Pear can wall Bowser's Fire moves thanks to Thick Fat, but is weak to Earthquake, which it uses on Bowser itself too. Maribel, Dr. Octogonapus and Marisa are faster than Bowser even with a DD boost (unless he uses Jolly) and can hit Bowser very hard on his weak spot: his low Special Defense. Don't switch those into Bowser unless it's after a team member got KO'd, though.
